Yesterday I tried to upgrade my Xfinity service from their Gigabit Extra service (1.2 Gbps down and 40 Mbps up) to their 2 Gbps service (which includes 400 Mbps up). I finally decided to pull the trigger since they now, finally, support customer owned equipment on their 2 Gbps service. Complete failure. Connect a coaxial cable. Use a coaxial cable to connect the cable port on the cable modem to a cable wall outlet. Make sure that the cable is tightly connected. Connect the power adapter to the cable modem and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet. When the startup is complete, the Power LED lights white. The Netgear CM1000 and CM1100 have that same chipset, and thus have identical performance to the Motorola MB8600. So just get whichever costs less and has the best return policy in case something is wonky. The CM2000 looks like a new model number, and I can't easily find which chipset it has.
